Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Volunteer activities for elementary school students are hard to come by, so Keheley PTA created our own activities for our MLK Day of Service event on January 15, 2024. We had a FANTASTIC time with our Keheley community who came out on MLK Day to make blankets for our unhoused population and care cards for seniors. Proud to see our elementary kids, parents, and educators working together to spread kindness to our little part of the world!

The blankets were dropped off that same night at the warming shelter of nearby Transfiguration Catholic Church just in time for the freezing temperatures. The care cards went to Benton House of Woodstock, an assisted living facility just minutes from Keheley that specializes in memory care.

A special thank you to North Landing Homeowners Association for providing us their clubhouse free of charge to host this event and to Joann Fabric & Crafts of Kennesaw for providing a substantial discount for the fabric. And a huge thank you to Pat Detweiler who provided the delicious home-made chicken salad sandwiches, apples, bananas, and beverages on short notice.
