Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

PTA's annual MLK Day of Service event is our way of honoring Dr. King's legacy through service in helping those in the community in need. Each year we plan a volunteer event at a nearby clubhouse that brings together our families to complete a service project. Lunch is provided for all who attend.

Last year, we made no-sew blankets for unhoused women in our area and made care cards for local cancer patients. We also accepted donations of hats and caps for those patients. A delicious lunch of baked ziti, sandwiches, fruit and beverages was provided to all that attended courtesy of Pat Detweiler. The event was so successful that we even had families from nearby schools come by to help us. And the volunteers at the warming shelter of nearby Transfiguration Catholic Church were thrilled to receive the fifteen blankets we made just in time for the freezing temperatures that evening.

A special thank you to North Landing Homeowners Association for providing us their clubhouse free of charge to host this event for a second year in a row.

This year's event is scheduled for January 19, 2026 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at a location to be determined.

Our MLK Day of Service event is planned by the Community Outreach committee of the Keheley PTA. If you'd like to be a part of that committee or want to help specifically with this event, please visit our Volunteer Committees page or contact us and let us know!
